P3/Shipka -3/30

Project 3 seems like a very fun and unique project. I have not started the self portrait portion of the project yet, but I have made an outline of what I want to draw. This is sort of a draft for my statement of goals and choices portion of the project. I basically have written down what I want my self portrait to say about me, and what aspects of my personality I want to highlight. I started this process by thinking of ways I could convey a piece of my self in a self portrait. The first decision that I had to make was whether or not I wanted to use a picture or a drawn image. I am thinking that I would do a combination of the two, choosing a picture of myself that I liked, and using the picture to draw myself, and then removing the picture. If this does not work out, I will just crop out myself from the picture, and draw in the background. The background is the area of my self-portrait in which I plan on really trying to show who I am. I am thinking of making a sort of collage for the background. I am going to start by breaking up the background in to multiple different pieces, probably around six. In these six different sections I will draw an image that I feel conveys a piece of my personality and interests. I think that this is the best option for me because I am not to great at photo editing, but I am somewhat good at drawing on a computer. I also think that there is not much I could do with my face in terms of drawing and editing that would show what kind of person that I am. With a photo, or drawn image of my face, surrounded by things that I am passionate about, I think that it will do a great job portraying what type of person I am.
